Detroit Techno Militia Expands RECON:313 with Jani Ho and Matt Radovich

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Detroit / Melbourne — Detroit Techno Militia (DTM) proudly announces the addition of Jani Ho and Matt Radovich to its RECON:313 division, marking a significant expansion of the collective’s international footprint and reinforcing its long-standing connection between Detroit and Melbourne’s underground techno networks.

RECON:313 represents DTM’s global reconnaissance unit: artists deeply aligned with Detroit techno’s core values, authenticity, technical mastery, live performance, and community building. The addition of Jani Ho and Matt Radovich reflects decades of earned trust, cultural exchange, and shared history on dance floors in both hemispheres.

Jani Ho

Finnish-born, New York–raised, and now firmly embedded in Melbourne’s electronic music ecosystem, Jani Ho is one of Australia’s most respected hardware-based techno and electro artists. His relationship with sound began early, and famously, when, at age three, he attempted to “experiment” with his father’s vinyl collection by stacking it in the oven. While the records didn’t survive, the obsession with machines, sound systems, and electronics never left.

Influenced by early New York house, Detroit techno, and jazz, Jani Ho’s sound is unmistakable: raw machine funk with emotional depth. His live performances are entirely hardware-driven and fully improvised with each set being a singular event. This approach has earned him international recognition, including multiple appearances in Detroit in 2014, 2016, and 2018 which is an exceptional achievement for an Australian-based artist.

Jani’s extensive discography spans labels such as Finn Audio, Soiree Records International, Detroit Underground, Machine Label, Awesome Soundwave, Bass Agenda, Assassin Soldier Recordings, UKR, AC-IN Records, Label Detroit, TMM Records, and Dolly. His track “Angry Minimal” was featured on a Carl Cox–mixed release, further solidifying his standing within the global techno community. Looking ahead, Jani is focused on international touring and new album and 12″ material, continuing his commitment to uncompromising live techno and electro.

Matt Radovich

A cornerstone of Melbourne’s electronic music culture for more than 34 years, Matt Radovich (also known under his long-running alias Mike Hunt) is one of the city’s most respected selectors and scene architects. With a career built on marathon sets and long-term residencies at iconic venues such as The Espy, The Joint Bar, Lucky Coq, and Glamorama, Matt has helped shape Melbourne’s dance floors for generations.

Matt is a founding member of the Infamous MTC Crew (Melbourne Techno Collective), a vital institution in Australian techno for over 23 years. Through MTC, he has shared stages with an extraordinary roster of artists including Juan Atkins, Jeff Mills, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Surgeon, Oscar Mulero, Planetary Assault System (live), Underground Resistance, Aphex Twin, Laurent Garnier, Stacey Pullen, and Detroit Techno Militia, among many others.

Beyond MTC, Matt has been a long-standing member of the Stable Music crew who are key figures behind Piknic Electronik Melbourne, Capacity parties, Kubik, and major Melbourne Music Week programming in collaboration with the City of Melbourne. His influence extends nationally and internationally, with performances across Australia and abroad.

Matt’s connection to Detroit runs deep. Invited by Detroit Techno Militia to perform at the Bang Tech 12 Anniversary Party, Matt fulfilled a lifelong dream by playing techno at its birthplace, sharing the decks with Detroit and international legends over multiple years.

In the studio, Matt collaborates with long-time partner Shaun Keyt (Viridian) as SKMR, delivering original techno rooted firmly in the genre’s original principles.

RECON:313

“RECON:313 isn’t about hype, it’s about alignment,” says Detroit Techno Militia. “Jani Ho and Matt Radovich have both put in decades of work, built real scenes, and earned their relationships with Detroit through action, not proximity. This is a natural evolution.”

With the addition of Jani Ho and Matt Radovich, Detroit Techno Militia continues to strengthen RECON:313 as a global network of artists who don’t simply play techno—but live it, protect it, and push it forward with integrity. Vinyl releases from both artists will be released on the Detroit Techno Militia in 2026.
