Shawn Rudiman:

Having been called "The Loch Ness Monster" of techno, Shawn Rudiman offers a rarely seen aspect of techno: it's unpredictability and ability to be a truly live style of electronic music without the use of computers. Utilizing samplers, sequencers, and drum machines, Rudiman constructs sets on the spot, impromptu style! Treating machines like musicians, Rudiman lets each shine at their proper times. His style runs the range of human emotions- breaching into almost ambient deepnes, to harsh rhythmatic assaults with his signature sound of jacking, funky, deep/ soulful, and groovy techno. Come out and see why places like Tresor club, Berghain and Batofar have had him to their legendary clubs.

"One of the best live P.A.'s I've ever seen" - Anthony "SHAKE" Shakir

"Shawn Rudiman live is a complete planned accident of the unknown. Man and machine meet under dance and a question mark. Exactly what techno is to me!" -"Mad" Mike Banks (Underground Resistance)

DJ Psycho:

DJ Psycho (Dezi Magby) has been repping the streets for the last 25 years of his life, dedicating himself to the art of not only rocking the crowd, but making a mix that is as complex as his interests. Mike Banks (UR) himself said, after seeing him for the first time, “Look at him! Just look at him! He truly doesn’t give a fuck! Records don’t make him. He makes THEM do what he wants them to do!” He’s been referenced as being “the split difference between The Wizard and The Tazmanian Devil”.His live mixes cross boundaries and genres effortlessly, and his mixes on CD go beyond simply beatmatching records – they tell stories. Being a DJ is not so much how he makes a living as it is how he lives. At this stage in the game, he still practices 3-5 hours daily with no breaks.

Psycho took to the turntables after watching Grandmaster Flash on MTV in 1981. He had already been taking up guitar, piano and percussion, so the musical aspect was already there. He also had uncles in Detroit and Pontiac who introduced him to the game, and by 1983, their training paid off when he started DJing junior high and high school dances. He had co-founded a band the same year, Your’z Truly, playing guitar on stage and various instruments in the studio. In 1987, he met Kevin Klida (DJ Max Jerome), who ended up helping him secure his very first club gig at The Mikatam in Genesee, MI. After that first taste of notoriety, he started smashing everything in sight, touring alongside Digital Underground, Ice Cube and Naughty By Nature, getting his own mix show on local radio station WWCK-105 fm, and procuring the Midwest DMC finals championships 3 years running.

Since then, it’s been a rollercoaster ride, with no breaks in his popularity and respect amongst his peers. He’s thrown parties in the Flint area as part of the SPICE crew between ’91 and ’97. As part of Rev. Right Time (’97-’03), he’s been written up in High Times Magazine, appeared on the Jenny Jones show and shared stages with Parliament-Funkadelic, The Time, Roger and Zapp, Fishbone, WAR, Hed P.E., Coal Chamber and Drowning Pool. As a solo DJ, he’s bumped mixers with DJ Clue, Green Lantern, Skribble, Boy George, Gianni, Michael Myers, and Mix Master Mike, as well as Michigan luminaries such as Punisher, MD!, Billebob, Scan 7, and countless others. He’s also a supporter of low-power FM, helping launch RADIO FREE FLINT in 1999. Psyc is currently a member of Funkilinium, a 6-piece R&B/funk outfit that has been nominated twice for Best Funk Band at the Detroit Music Awards. Early this past year, Vert Clothing chose him as a spokesmodel for their new line of street gear and co-sponsored his “Dissident” club tour for the summer of 2006.

Influenced by a wide range of artists (starting with Prince, George Clinton, Nile Rodgers of Chic, Thomas Dolby, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Aerosmith and The Beatles) and DJs (Flash, Jazzy Jeff, Premier, Jeff Mills, Jam Master Jay, Carl Cox), his goal is to bridge the gap between what all of these people have meant to him and the future of music, whether it is manning the turntables, making tracks or stepping on stage with his band. 25 more years? It could happen.

FBK:

FBK (aka Kevin M. Kennedy) is an American techno producer attempting to put the funk back in minimal techno. Since 1994, FBK has been honing and refining his sound which has been called dark, hard, funky, extremely danceable and even dubby.

His releases on Frictional and Xplor are still sought to this day and considered underground classics.

A protege' of Dan Bell and Anthony "Shake" Shakir, FBK has learned his craft from some of the best and has worked with numerous composers such as Jay Denham, Paul Johnson, and many others.

The works featured here are two shining examples of fbk's relentless pursuit of the funk extraordinary. FBK says: "Antherman is the antidote to the sleepiness that has prevailed over the minimal community, hopefully it serves a wake up that minimal does not have to mean static or boring."

Anthony Jimenez:

Anthony Jimenez (pronounced hee-MEH-nes) may be a relative newcomer to the dj circuit, but he never fails to leave his impression on the dance floor.

Since 2003 Anthony has experimented with many different genres of EDM in his dj sets to shape his sound into what it is today. Dark, driving, moody, industrial strength techno, mixed with the occasional track to let you come up for air.

Turning in the traditional tools of a dj, the two turntables and mixer, Anthony chose to adopt an all-digital platform from which to work. This has allowed him to layer, mix and create a truly unique experience every time he performs.

More than just a dj, Anthony is also a respected producer. With his new label “Khombat” launching soon, he is ready to begin releasing his music to the world.

DJ Balls:

Fairly new to the New York and New Jersey scene. Brett Bell started in New Hampshire playing on a local college radio station and going to parties in Mass and New York. Now a New Jersey resident, Balls has been dropping some powerful sets in New York underground scene. With influences from all types of electronic music, DJ Balls has settled into the niche of electro house. But no matter what he plays, Balls is sure to bring a high energy vibe with his highly dance-able and upbeat sets.

Peterlee:

Peterlee regularly assaults dance floors with his almost unending record crate and uncannny ability to play to the crowd. Pete is a true veteran and is known for being incredibly versatile. His ability to quick mix and genre hop at a drop of a dime has earned him bookings throughout the USA, Canada, and EU. You can see him destroying dance floors with glitchy hard trance, heavy bass driven house, bouncy hardcore and driving techno.

DJ Kingpin:

Matt Bell got his first taste of electronic music back in 1996, and he fell in love with it right from the start. In 1998 he bought his first pair of turntables. DJing his first party in 1999 his love for the scene and the music only grew stronger. Matt spent countless hours working on his skills behind the decks, playing a handful of parties from 99 to 01. After laying low for about 8 years, Matt was drawn back by his love for the music. You can catch him spinning every week at Havana, up on Mount Washington in Pittsburgh during the warmer months.

Sierra:

C-Rah aka Raskalz who was born Sierra Avalos is originally from Toledo, Ohio, but has spent the past 5 years diligently perfecting her craft in the city of Detroit. Her talents have undoubtedly stood out, and she has found herself playing alongside big name acts such as Claude Von Stroke, Detroit Grand Pubahs, Felix Da Housecat, Shpongle, Heather Heart, and James Pennington to name a few. Sierra has been consistently making booties shake all over the nation, banging out a plethora of different styles ranging from Techno, 313CTRO, Booty, House, and/or whatever she currently sees fit for the dance floor. When it comes to this incredible talent make no mistake, you will walk away drenched with sweat, and begging for more of her signature blend.

Spy VS. Spy:

First unofficially formed around mid '06, Gus (Dj Gusto) and Kevin (The Machinist) became acquainted through tag team sets. after a year the name became official, and best suits the duo's style when performing together. Using anything they feel comfortable with (drum machines, software, decks, etc.), they rock the crowd while keeping each other on their toes.

Naoko:

Born and raised in Hikone, Japan, Naoko Fukada had very little exposure to modern dance music. Infrequently, she would hear dance music when visiting nearby towns( like Kyoto) but not enough to impact her. It wasn't until she moved to Pittsburgh in 2001, that she was exposed to underground dance music on a consistent basis. A friendship with fellow Japanese visual artists Lab Type-0( who were doing video work on an international level) afforded her the opportunity to attend rave events on every imaginable scale, week after week. She attributes the House of Styles events, and Electrasoul, as primary influences which feuled her passion for Techno. And friendships with Techno artists such as Product 19, Colin Pierce, and Shadowstarr, eventually inspired her to pursue Djing in 2006. In the last 5 years...Naoko has established herself as a crowd favorite, and one of the few representatives of Hard Techno and Acid Techno. She has devistated floors of all sizes w/ her energetic and full throttle sets. When Naoko hits the decks...dancing shoes are required!
